Pranutan: My Dad Mohnish Bahl Has Always Felt The Responsibility Of Living Up To Our Lineage

Pranutan Bahl is the latest aspirant in B-town. The 24-year-old featured in a recent commercial for the FMCG brand Tropicana and is hoping to step into Bollywood now. The daughter of renowned actor Mohnish Bahl, spoke to SpotboyE.com about her future plans. Excerpts:

You come from a film family but you got your start on the digital platform F*#@ The Couch...
I had put my profile on F*#@ The Couch primarily because I didn't want to completely rely on my family background. I joined it to discover the opportunities and get a real view of things.

How was your experience of working with Suniel Shetty who founded the agency?
It was great, he is very supportive. He would push me to perform better during auditions and showed immense faith in me.

Was studying law a back-up plan?
No, I  wanted to complete my education and I liked Law as a subject.

Is it difficult to live up to the name of your grandmother Nutan?
It’s not difficult--- but it places a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, just like it did on my dad’s shoulders. My dad still feels the responsibility and probably never stopped feeling it. To carry forward my grandma’s lineage and legacy is a huge task. Her legacy as an actor is pretty evident but also as a person she was extremely commendable.

How do you intend to carry forward the legacy?
There’s nothing happening right now. No ads, no films, nothing! Let's see how it goes for me. The only thing that I’m very particular about is not letting down the legacy of my family especially my grandmother's.

Did you get any offer after your Tropicana Ad?
Nope.

Your dad is a famous television star, so why not TV?
For my debut, I would go with films because it's my home ground! And my father is a film actor primarily and he’s done TV only in the last 10-15 years, plus my grandmother, my aunt, they are all movie actors.

Which is your favorite film of Mohnish Bahl?
I loved him in Maine Pyaar Kiya. I loved Jeevan, his character in the film..

Are you taking any special training in acting or dance?
I have learned Bharatnatyam and have taken some training in contemporary dance as well. But I haven't gone for any specialized acting classes yet.

How supportive is your father of your decision to enter Bollywood?
My dad and mom are extremely supportive since films are their home turf. Also, I have completed my education and as a family unit, they were keen that I finish my studies first. So now, let's wait and watch where I land.

Would you bare skin on screen?
It all depends on the script. I would like to go with my instinct.

How comfortable are you with kissing and lovemaking scenes?
I would completely go with the script. I can’t have any preconceived notions.

Who are the directors you want to work with?
I like all the directors who have a good script and vision. But I love Shoojit Sircar, Ayan Mukerji and my all-time favorite Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Stars you want to work with?
I’m very fond of Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. I’m absolutely crazy about their work.
